  CRAFT INSTRUCTOR TRAINING PROGRAMME  
  OBJECTIVES :
  • Developing the skills required to analyze the trade syllabus, planning and organizing trade training in practical skills and related instructions.
  • Selecting/preparing suitable media (teaching aids) to be utilized while imparting training at classroom and workshop situations.
  • Providing training in the methods of applications of instruction (pedagogical aspect) for effective learning of trade skills together with techniques of evaluating the work of trainees.
  • Promoting a sense of responsibility for the proper upkeep of the equipment, tools, machineries and other materials entrusted to the care of the instructor and the ability to maintain and operate the system of recordkeeping in practice.
  • Understanding one's deficiencies in the trade area (both practical and theoretical) and over coming their shortcomings so that full technological competence is achieved.
  • Equipping the instructor with knowledge and skills of workshop administration and management.
  • Promoting the appreciation for the need to keep abreast with current developments both technical and pedagogical knowledge and skills. Developing test items and evaluating the achievements of learners.
TARGET GROUPS:
  • Technical teachers, instructors, trainers deputed by state governments' I.T.I s, private I.T.Cs , industries and also private candidates subject to availability of seats.
  • Foreign nationals working as technical teachers, instructors, trainers etc. under Commonwealth Educational Cooperation Plan sponsored by Indian Council of Cultural Relations.
MODULAR PATTERN OF INSTRUCTOR TRAINING :

  • Under this pattern three modules of training viz., Trade Technology-I, Trade Technology -II and Engineering Technology in the trades DRAUGHTSMAN (MECHANICAL) and WELDER (WL) trades only are conducted at ATI Guindy, Chennai as per the following schedule during the year 2011-12.
 
 

Trade Technoloy - I (TT-I) 3 Months  November 2011
Engineering Technology 3 Months February 2011, August 2011 & Februray 2012
Trade Technoloy - II (TT-II) 3 Months  May 2011
 
ADMISSION QUALIFICATION:

          Candidates who have passed National Trade Certificate or National Apprenticeship Certificate or Degree or Diploma in relevant branch of Engineering in the concerned trade are eligible to apply. Candidate may seek admission to any of the modules given in the table below subject to fulfilling the eligibility as given below.

Eligibility for admission to various Modules :

  Engineering Technology   NTC / NAC / Diploma Certificate in relevant branch of Engineering.
  Trade Technology –I (TT-I)   NTC / NAC / Diploma Certificate in relevant branch of Engineering.
  Trade Technology -II (TT-II)   NTC, NAC, Diploma Certificate in relevant branch of Engineering and a pass in TT-1 Module of relevant trade under modular pattern of CITS.

AGE LIMIT:


          Candidate should be between 18 to 40 years as on date of commencement of Training.Selection shall be made purely on Merit basis in accordance with the instructions issued by the DGE&T in this regard.

CONDITIONS FOR APPEARING FOR THE FINAL TRADE TEST :

          Only those candidates who fulfill the minimum requirement of 60% in sessional marks and who have 80% attendance in each module will be permitted to appear for the final trade test.
          60% of marks in each subject is essential for a pass.
          Trainees who do not fulfill the minimum requirement of attendance and Sessional marks will have to repeat the module by getting re-admission.

CERTIFICATION :

          At the end of each module, Instructor trainees will appear for final trade test conducted on All India basis under the aegis of National Council for Vocational Training. On successful completion of module examination, a certificate will be issued by this institute for the respective module only.
          Instructor trainees under modular pattern will be eligible for the National Craft Instructors Certificate issued by NCVT, only if they successfully complete all the modules of instruction within three years from the date of commencement of the first module.

HOW TO APPLY:

  • Candidate seeking admission should apply to the DIRECTOR, Advanced Training Institute, Guindy Chennai, 600032, in the prescribed application format with a passport size photo along with a Registration fee of Rs.100/-. by way of Indian Postal Order or Demand Draft in favor of The DDO, ATI Chennai 32, payable at Chennai.
  • Attested copies of all Certificates must accompany the application form.
  • Preference will be given to candidates sponsored by the affiliated I.T.Is and I.T.Cs, Govt. of India Undertakings and industrial Organizations. In case of sponsored candidates, a sponsorship certificate from the employer indicating all the relevant details and duly endorsed by the competent authority of Directorate of Employment & Training of their respective state should be enclosed along with the application for consideration under sponsored candidate category.
  • For the seats remaining unfilled after allocation of seats to sponsored candidates, private candidates will be considered on merit basis.
NOTE: A TRAINEE HAS TO CLEAR ALL THE FOUR MODULES WITH IN A PERIOD OF THREE YEARS FROM THE COMMENCEMENT OF ADMISSION TO THE CRAFT INSTRUCTOR TRAINING (Modular Pattern), TO BECOME ELIGIBLE FOR CRAFT INSTRUCTOR CERTIFICATE.
