The Advanced Training Institute was set up by the Directorate General of Employment & Training under Ministry of Labour, Govt. of India with the assistance from U.N.D.P. / I.L.O. in the year 1968. It is situated on a sprawling 40 acres land in a central place of Chennai quite close to Guindy Railway Station with well designed workshops / Laboratories with modern sophisticated equipment / machinery both imported and indigenous. Canteen, Dispensary and Hostel facilities are also available inside the campus. The training is imparted using most modern teaching aids through highly qualified & experienced faculty trained at home / abroad. Apart from the regular training programmes as listed, special tailor-made courses are also conducted in the Institute to meet the special training requirements of Industry.
The programmes conducted by the ATI are short-term programmes of duration of 1 to 4 weeks. Courses offered are practical intensive in nature and on such equipment and machinery as are used in Industry. The theoretical knowledge given in the institute is such as to complement the practical knowledge. The upgradation and updating of skills cover both manipulative skills as well as conceptual skills. The training also includes assigned practical work which could either be a problem, relating to the industry or a problem devised by
the faculty.
The training is oriented towards Indian Standards and SI units. The emphasis of training is to develop clear concepts and upgrade the skills.
HOW TO APPLY:
Ø Nomination in the prescribed proforma should reach the Institute at least 20 days in advance before the commencement of each course.
True copies of certificates inrespect of educational qualifications and experience should be attached along with the application form and Original certificates should be produced at the time of admission.
Ø Participants should be released to report for training only on receipt of confirmation from the Institute. Late admission is not allowed.
Ø Tuition fee should be remitted in advance or at the time of admission through the participant in the form of Cash or Demand Draft / Cheque drawn in favour of the Drawing & Disbursing Officer, ATI, Chennai on any nationalised bank payable at Chennai.
Ø Due to any reason if a candidate discontinues the training, he is not entitled for refund of tuition fee.
Ø Working hours of the Institute from 09:00 hrs to 17:30 hrs (lunch break from 13:00 hrs to 13:30 hrs ). Saturdays and Sundays are holidays.
Ø The Institute can be approached by local trains as well as City bus Service. Guindy Railway Station and Bus Stop are very close to the Institute. Nearest Land mark - CANARA BANK , GUINDY (Near the Subway).
Ø The Director of the Institute / D.G.E & T reserves the right to cancel or alter any course / all the courses without assigning any reason or notice.
